Staff Report
ISLAMABAD
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar, during the hearing of Banigala encroachment case on Tuesday, pointed out that Imran Khan should set the precedence for the people of Pakistan.
“Imran Khan is not a Prime Minister (PM) as yet but he is going to form the government therefore he should become an example for the people”
CJP gave these remarks while presiding over a three-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) during the case hearing.
Survey General of Pakistan (SGP) and member Revenue Board appeared before the court.
CJP described the performance of SGP as unsatisfactory, and asked as to why the court’s orders were not taken seriously.
Justice Nisar further stressed that the members of judiciary do not go to courts to review documents and sip tea, instead their orders should be taken seriously and enforced.
He added that the people of Pakistan provide for our salary from their hard earned money.
CJP said that the Surveyor General and members from revenue board should manage to complete the record relevant to the case in a few hours.
He added that no one is authorized to make any change in record.
If there are outstanding dues against Imran Khan then he must pay them.
Babar Awan took the plea that Prime Minister (PM) will become an example for the people.
CJP observed that he has not become the PM yet, but is expected to take office in a foreseeable future. If Imran Khan sets the right example people will follow course
Babar Awan said he assures on Khan’s behalf that he will review this matter.
CJP remarked no patwari has any authority to make any change in the record without any justification. In the event of any error, patwari should rectify the record. We give time on certain issues as the new government has yet to come.
SC accepted the plea of Survey of Pakistan to allow six weeks’ time and adjourned the case hearing.
