Admissions to primary classes open

The second phase of admissions for the government schools in Punjab will commence from August 15.
The admissions will be opened for the primary and middle classes during the second phase.
The provincial government has set a target of five million in terms of admitting girls and boys to the schools across the province.
The provincial government has also issued an advisory giving more priority to the admission of girls in the schools.
Local body representatives, MNAs and MPAs have been assigned the task to reach out to the parents to persuade them to send their children to the schools in their respective areas.
Admissions will be completely free and all the newly-admitted children will get books, copies, school bags and uniform free of cost. The girls in rural areas will also get a monthly stipend Rs800.
School heads will also launch a door-to-door campaign to persuade parents to send their children to schools. They will also submit the new admissions data to the secretary education on a daily basis.
The admissions will continue till November 15.
