Welcoming Sharifs: PML-N, Punjab govt discuss Nawaz, Maryam’s arrival in Lahore
Nawaz, Maryam appeared in all hearings, NAB should arrest them after arrival in Raiwind: spokesperson
The Punjab interim government and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leadership have discussed the arrival of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter, Maryam Nawaz in Lahore on July 13.
Sources said the PML-N leadership during a meeting has informed the Punjab Caretaker Law Minister Shaukat Javed that they will not tolerate any hurdle in the reception of their supreme leader.
The law minister has said that permission for taking out rally is only till polls day, and if the protest remains peaceful, no action will be taken.
The PML-N leadership further said it was their right to welcome Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
The ex-premier and his daughter Maryam will arrive at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Friday, July 13.
The PML-N leadership has made preparation to welcome Nawaz and Maryam. Reports suggest that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will arrest the duo at the airport and will move them to Adiala Jail via helicopter immediately.
The PML-N leadership has announced they will defy all the restrictions and reach the Lahore airport to welcome Nawaz and Maryam.
Maryam has also announced to address the party workers after landing in Lahore regardless of repercussions.
According to the schedule issued by PML-N, the Sharifs would arrive at Abu Dhabi from London on July 12 and leave for Lahore on July 13. They would land at Lahore airport at 6:15 pm on Friday. The PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has assigned his son, Hamza Shehbaz, the task to manage the public mobilisation campaign to welcome the Sharifs in Lahore.
Meanwhile, the PML-N spokesperson, Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that they will welcome Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz peacefully and the election commission should consider their objections.
NAB should arrest Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz after their arrival at their home in Raiwind, she said this on Wednesday.
The PML-N leader, said workers would show up at the Lahore airport in huge numbers to welcome the former premier and his daughter.
“It is the responsibility of the election commission and interim government to ensure transparent and unbiased elections’’, she held.
She said the PLM-N has established an anti- rigging cell and soon its UAN number will be issued so people can immediately inform in case of such false action.
“We will bring forth the evidences in connection with rigging’’ she maintained.
‘’There is no ban to depart at Lahore Airport in section 144’’, she added.
The former information minister said that Shehbaz Sharif has clearly said that it was a legal and constitutional right to welcome their leader peacefully.
Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have appeared in all hearings of different cases of NAB, so they should be arrested after their arrival at their home in Raiwind, she asserted.
