A woman died on Saturday after allegedly being wrongly medicated by a quack in Kahana locality of Lahore.
The woman’s spouse, Shahzad said that the quack administered the wrong injection to his wife, who was suffering from fever and eventually led to her death.
The woman had started feeling sick soon after we got the injection administered, he said, adding that she passed away while on her way to a nearby hospital.
Police apprehended the doctor and a case was registered against him.
The news comes in when Punjab Health Commission has initiated a crackdown against fake doctors, shutting down 57 of their centres in the province.
In Okara 28 centres were shut down while 19 in Rawalpindi and 10 in Lahore were sealed shut.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday had ordered authorities to launch a crackdown on fake doctors or quacks in Punjab.
Hearing a case regarding public interest in Supreme Court’s Lahore registry, the chief justice also ordered the Punjab police to arrest all quack doctors within a week.
The apex court has also summoned a report in this regarding within a week.
